Link kicked a rock and crossed his arms. Why were these thoughts clouding his mind?
This was all her fault. If it wasn't for her, he wouldn't be out in the forest, wandering, thinking, and wondering if what he thought he felt really was true.
The princess of Hyrule, the angelic princess Zelda was in Ordon for a vacation away from the palace. He had seen her once before she arrived... when he was delivering a sword to the castle, a sword that Rusl had made especially for her. And for the past 4 days, he had done nothing but spend time with her. It was yesterday when he realized that he... possibly... loved her. He hadn't stopped thinking about her ever since she arrived, and he was beginning to treasure the time that they spent together.
So why was he punishing himself like this? He wanted to see her... but... he was afraid. He was afraid that he would fall for her, even though in the back of his mind he already knew that he possibly loved her already, and she would not love him back. It was a risk that he wanted to take, but was afraid to. What a pathetic thing for the bearer of the triforce of Courage to do.
When they had seen each other yesterday, she had said that she really enjoyed spending time with him... and he couldn't blame her. He was the only one close to her age. Ilia was 3 years younger, and he wasn't even a year older. He sighed. 'I suppose I shouldn't make her hang out with all the little kids any more...' he thought. After all, it wasn't her fault that he was attracted to her. It wasn't her fault that she had a perfectly shaped face, skin that seemed to radiate off a pale beauty, especially in the dark, bright, blue eyes that seemed to dance when she smiled, rosy lips that were almost always curved into a delicate smile that would cause any man's heart to stop...
No. He had to face her whether she knew of his feelings or not. He wouldn't hide from this.
He turned around and began walking towards the entrance to town, and jumped as he turned a corner and the entrance came into view. There stood the princess, wearing a lacy white and lavender dress that seemed to enhance the paleness of her soft skin, making her appear more beautiful than Link could even imagine. He scratched the back of his neck and felt his cheeks redden slightly.
"Hey," she smiled taking a step towards him. "Are you okay? You seemed a little uptight yesterday and no one knew where you went... or where you've been all day today."
"Oh... yeah. Sorry. I've been here," he explained slowly, his heart beating quickly. Goddesses, she looked gorgeous when she smiled.
"What have you been doing in here all day?" she asked. Why did the wind have to blow gently right then, causing her loose hair to swirl around her face?
"Uhh... you know. Thinking... walking..." he blushed.
She giggled. "You've been doing a lot of thinking."
He couldn't suppress a smile. "Why are you here?"
"I came up looking for you. I love the children here, but I needed a little break."
He laughed.
"So... why don't you come back to the village with me?" she asked.
His heart flipped. "Or... you could come with me if you'd like. Since you're tired of the children here, we could go somewhere. Just you and me." Goddessess, he hoped he wasn't being too obvious.
"Where?" she sounded genuinely curious, and, unless his senses were failing him, a little excited.
"To the spirit spring." He offered her his hand. She took it and he pulled her along the dirt trail that wound through the trees until they reached a gate that was overflowing with so many flowers and vines that it was impossible to see through it. Link felt along the middle until his hand that was not in hers closed around a seemingly invisible handle. He twisted it, and smiled at her. "Here we are."
She couldn't help it. She gasped. The entire area was covered in soft grass, with pieces of horse grass scattered around, white, lavender, blue, pink, and red flowers, and clear, sparkling water that cast rainbows around the entire area. There were two small, steep waterfalls on either side of a long, flat one that led into the large pool of water that seemed to glow pale silver.
"It's beautiful..." Zelda murmured, allowing Link to walk her towards the water. He paused as she released his hand and watched her take off her slip-on, creamy white flats and place them on a rock that lay on the sand. She took a few steps forward, the warm sand crunching under her toes, and ended up next to Link. With one hand, she lifted the bottom of her dress slightly. With the other, she took his hand and flashed him a small smile. He forced himself to tear his eyes away from her face as they both stepped into the water. "It's so warm," Zelda commented, her smile becoming wider and wider. Link took a deep breath. This place was giving him confidence... and his heart was telling him to do something that he wasn't sure that he was ready for.
She moved over to a rock and sat on it, patting the space beside her. Link went red again as he sat down. They sat in a comfortable silence, but secretly, Link's heart was thumping so loud that he was slightly surprised that Zelda could not hear it.
"I really like spending time with you," she told him, sighing as she looked at the spring.
"Me too," he muttered, rubbing her hand with his thumb slightly. She gave his a strange look and he blushed furiously. But, to his utter surprise, she leaned her head on his shoulder. He let her sit there for a while, enjoying the warmth that she seemed to give off where her skin was touching his.
"Zelda?" he murmured suddenly after a few moments of silence.
She looked up at him. "Yes?"
He felt his confidence burn up as his nerves took over. 'SAY SOMETHING!' he thought desperately. "Uhh... you look really pretty."
He internally kicked himself. Why would he, instead of revealing his feelings for her, tell her that she was pretty! He may as well have just said it!
"Oh, thanks," she blushed. "That means a lot."
"It does?" Link asked, slightly surprised. "I would have thought that you would hear that a lot."
"I do. But it's usually from someone that I barely know... or I just don't value their opinion as  I do with yours."
He wasn't sure, but he thought that her cheeks had flushed at these words. She looked up at him once again, and he hesitantly touched her cheek. "It's nice to know that you value my opinion," he laughed. "And since you were honest with me, I guess I should be honest with you." He could feel his face turn bright red and his stomach knot.
"What?" she asked, going red as well.
"Zelda... I-umm... I..." this was harder than he thought it would be... "I love y-"
He was cut off by her pressing her lips against his. He went even redder than before and soon felt his arms wrap themselves around her waist, pulling her close. After what seemed like barely any moments at all, she pulled away. "I was wondering when you were going to say that to me."
He grinned. "Was I really that obvious?"
She laughed. "Not to me, but you'd be surprised at how attentive those children are. Especially Beth. She is not afraid to speak her mind..."
After a few more minutes, the sky was beginning to get the reddish tinges that signified that the day was ending. As they walked back to the village, hand in hand, Link turned to her. "Are we going to tell anybody about today?"
She looked at him and smiled. "Are you kidding? Do you have any idea what Beth would put me through?"
Some attempt at humor at the end. :P

I fail. Miserably. ^^;

I just wanted it to end, I just got the movie 21 and I'm anxious to see it (again) XDD
